I narrowed it down to my top 20, primarily chosen due to their significance and/or prose in the literary world of YA......or because I just love them......{and ps- sorry no classics}.

  • I find it unbelievably sad (and also unacceptable) that I've only read a couple of the books on this list! WTH? I know I need to read If I Stay, Missie has been me about that one for probably years now and I still hesitate to pick it up because I know it's going to be emotionally intense and I'm a huge chicken. I really need to read Jellicoe Road as well. And all the rest of them really:)

Great list Tina! I've read a lot of these and most of the rest of them are on my to-read list. Yesterday I actually started the audiobook of The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, which is my favorite YA series. I love doing audio for re-reads! I'm SO SO SO happy to see it make your list!!

IF I STAY!!!!!!!! I cried hard core while reading that book. Actually there are a lot on you list that I've read and LOVED.

I haven't been reading a lot of YA lately. I don't know why, but they are all starting to sound the same to me, but there are a few stand outs.

  • I've read 5 on your list and they are among my favorites for YA lit. I really love YA lit, but lately have been reading A LOT of Christian fiction. And as always the TBR pile never seems to get smaller! Great list Tina!

  • Helllllooo old friend!

I haven't been around much, but I'm excited to see this list b/c I've been in a serious reading funk. I am bookmarking this post to make sure I can check all these books off as I read them. I'm actually reading Unwind right now. My school librarian lent it to me last school year and since school starts Tuesday, I figured I really needed to go in to school and be able to hand her the book back (finally). If I finish it before Tuesday it will only be the third fiction book I've read this summer. Take care, Tina!

(and waving to Julie above! I owe you an email!)
