Fairy Metal Thunder
Songs of Magic, #1
J.L. Bryan
A rock & roll fairy tale.
Jason plays guitar in a teenage garage band called the Assorted Zebras, but they have no fans, no gigs, and they’re going nowhere. Even worse, Jason has a crush on their lead singer, but she doesn’t seem interested in him at all.
Then Jason steals instruments from the fairy world. Soon the band is enchanting crowds, and Jason is a step closer to the girl of his dreams, but the new gear is brimming with dangerous and destructive magic they can’t control.
Their shortcut to success has cost a troupe of innocent fairies their livelihood and turned Jason and his band into enemies of the powerful Queen Mab, who sends supernatural bounty hunters to track them down, including one of the most dangerous horned creatures in Faerie…a small unicorn named Buttercake.
Questions for Chapter 1-6 of Fairy Metal Thunder:

1. At the beginning of the story, the Assorted Zebras are just a garage band, but they are expecting to make it big. Who knows, you just might find yourself at one of their concerts someday. Until then, show me your favorite concert t-shirt. It could be a picture of a concert you actually attended or a pic of a vintage tee of your favorite band. Be sure to tell me the story behind the tee.

2. Jason’s mom forces him to agree to do some yard work for Mrs. Dullahan, which wouldn’t be so bad if she wasn’t rumored to be a witch. Tell me about the worst chore you were ever forced to do. Who make you do it? Bonus points if you have a picture to share of you doing the dirty work.

3. Uh oh! There seems to be a jewelry thief in the neighborhood. Have you have had anything stolen from you? Or have you ever lost something precious? Did you ever find it? Make a Reward if Found poster for the stolen or lost item. Convince us to find it for you. Make the reward good!

4. In Faerie, Jason declares himself as Jason the Guy Who Wants That Necklace Back. Weird, but then again every name has a meaning. What does your name mean? What is the origin? Do you go by any kind of nicknames? How did you get that nickname?

5. When Jason gets home from his all night adventures through Fairy, his parents unfairly ground him for a month! Care to share a time you were grounded by your parents for no good reason?

Remember: You will be able to link up your Week One answers on July 6th! I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

The Saturday Spotlight with Anna Patrico and Giveaway of Asenath

Welcome to the Saturday Spotlight a feature that shines the light on Indie and Debut authors. This week I have the pleasure introducing you to:

ANNA PATRICO
~Author of Asenath~

Hi Anna, welcome to the blog please tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a debut historical fiction author from Australia. My novel Asenath is set in Ancient Egypt and is about the little-known wife of Joseph of the coat-of-many-colours. Many people tell me, "I didn't know Joseph was married!" Given that she is only mentioned in passing, I suppose this reaction is expected. After all, even I didn't know about Asenath until later on in my life. I am an ancient history buff. I love Egypt, Israel, Greece, and Rome, and hope to know more about the Ancient Near East. I've read about it mostly in terms of its relation to Egypt and Israel, but from the little I've gleaned, it sounds extremely fascinating. I travelled to the Middle East last year - Lower Egypt (Cairo and the Sinai), Israel, and Jordan. When not writing, I love to read (being a writer, I guess this is by default); listen to music; watch movies; and do some photography. Also, I am a dog lover.

What inspired you to write ASENATH?

I have been an enthuasiast of the Joseph story for the longest time. Sometime ago, I grew curious about the woman he married. Like I said, Genesis mentions her only in passing; all we know about Asenath is that she was the daughter of a priest and that she was given in marriage to Joseph as his reward for interpreting Pharaoh's dreams. When I looked her up, I found hardly anything on her. I then thought it would be interesting to imagine what she might have been like.

Did you have to do any major research or traveling to write your book?

Certainly, what with this being a historical novel and all. I went through my old notes and syllabi from university (I did Ancient History for my degree), then perused the library of my alma mater. There were some grey areas, however, which is typical of ancient history. For instance, we don't really know, for how Ancient Egyptian wedding ceremonies were like. There are some conjectures about this but nothing seems to be certain. So here, I employed artistic licence. My Middle Eastern trip helped as well - when I was doing the edits, I was able to truly describe the sights, sounds and smells of Egypt.

What song would you choose to fit the mood of your book and why?

Hmmm... probably Loreena McKennitt's 'Marco Polo.' It has a very nice Egyptian feel to it.

What are you reading right now?

I have just begun Maria Dahvana Headley's 'Queen of Kings.' I was intrigued by the plot: Cleopatra turning into a vampire. So far, it seems pretty interesting. I just finished Mary Renault's 'The King Must Die' which a friend recommended to me. It was a bit dragging but beautifully written. I love Renault's style; it is very descriptive and poetic.

Whats on the horizon for ANNA PATRICIO?

I am currently researching for my second novel which is still set in Ancient Egypt but hundreds of years after the events of ASENATH. To be more specific, it is set during the time of Moses. It probably seems intentional that after writing about Joseph, I would write about Moses. But actually, the idea came to me at a really random moment (the same thing happened with ASENATH, by the way). Some people have also been recommending I write a sequel to ASENATH. And I really did have a lot of fun with that story, so I see no reason why I shouldn't. This could be after my Moses novel though. Also, I will be returning to Egypt in the next year or so. My recent Middle Eastern trip had Israel as its main event, so my time in Egypt was very brief. I am definitely not complaining though, as Israel was the other must-see place for me. Now that I've had an in-depth tour for it, it's time to see more of Egypt.

*******
Oh my gosh Anna, what an incredible journey you've had writing this book.....the other book you mentioned Queen of Kings sounds super freaky. Thanks so much for stopping by today and best of luck to you and your writing career.

Today Anna is giving away one eBook copy of her novel Asenath to a reader at Tinasbookreviews. Please just leave a comment for an entry. Winner will be chosen July 7, 2012.

Married with Zombies~Week 5- The Last One!!

Welcome to the Married with Zombies scavenger hunt read along, hosted by Missie, Jen, Loretta, Ashley and myself. Its our last week and what a blast it has been. Link up your answers over at Missies today and be on the look out for the winners...:)

DISCUSSION - Chapters 21-26

In Chapter 21, David and Sarah venture into a grocery store to try to find some essentials. Show us a picture of the top three items you consider your essentials when you go shopping.

I can't live without my coffee or Diet Coke and yes I am a coffee snob, Dunkin Donuts is my favorite. The kids love peanut butter so its another staple at La Casa Bennett.

Sarah and David travel quite a distance to “visit” a family member. Show us a picture of your most recent family vacation. Who did you visit and where did you go?

Sorry guys, I don't put pics of the kids on my blog.....the last place we went to was over spring break. We checked out The Creation Museum and spent a few nights in Petersburg, KY.

Sarah refers to David’s sister as the Martha Stewart type because she likes to make things from scratch. Show us a picture a hobby or home project you get enthusiastic about making/doing.

Ok so besides blogging Im not much of a hobby person, Ive tried painting, knitting, sewing, scrapbooking...I kinda suck at it all, so I guess after blogging my favorite hobby would be baking.

LOL- that would be one of my first attempts at making a pie from scratch, a little flat and a little crispy.....it did taste good though so I guess that's all that matters.

David and Sarah decide to start up their own Zombie exterminators business, and even come up with a name and slogan for it, “S and D Zombie Extermination. We take care of your undead issues.” If you opened up your own zombie killing business, what would you call it, and what would your slogan be?

Dirty Zombies
Got a Mess? We'll clean it up!

What were your favorite/least favorite parts of Married with Zombies? Aside from David and Sarah, who was your favorite/least favorite character?

I think my favorite part was when Sarah killed the zombie at the retail store with a cash register. My least favorite character was David and Sarah's Super, he was just gross. I loved Amanda, even though she bit the dust. I actually loved all the zombies too, they made the book fun.

What do you think is coming up next for David and Sarah? Which do you think has a better chance of survival, their marriage or their humanity? Will you continue reading this series, and if so, what do you hope to see happen in the next book?

I will for sure finish the series, this first book was a riot. Im hoping they make it in life and marriage because they are a great couple. I want to see David and Sarah really sizzle in the next book!

AND.... that's it folks. Head over to Missie's and link up and catch the surprise at the end of her post!

Mini-Reviews~ Negative Reviews and Questionable Children's Books

Its time for Mini-Reviews, where I get out a few thoughts on a bundle of books I have read. This week was a little hard for me cause yeah I don't like to write negative reviews.....but oh well it has to be done sometimes. So here's the bad and the DNF's.

Nothing by Janne Teller
February 9th 2010 by Atheneum
Borrowed

So I guess before I launch into Tina-rant time, I must tell you up front I only read this because last summer I was on a YA committee that read award winning novels...and now that that's out of the way......When I finished Nothing my very first thought was as follows:

This turd called literature actually won an award?

My question is why? Was it the astounding writing...with sentences like: Scared. More Scared. Most Scared. Or the really great one, Dark. So dark. Really dark.

I get it, you're scared and its dark, what I don't get is how this story won an award....my only guess is that Im not "cool" enough or sophisticated enough to understand the minds of the Printz Honor panel, because the first thing that comes to my mind was that the author was either suffering from head trauma or under the influence when she sat down to explain to middle grade children the meaning of existentialism.

The Plot: One day Pierre climbs a tree, deciding that there is nothing and no meaning to life. The existence of our race, the human spirit...all meaningless.....and he shouts this out to his classmates on a daily basis from this tree.(Question: where were the parents and teachers and adults in this story? Did any of the people actually over the age of twelve notice that a child was living in a tree outside of a public school for months? How did this child eat, sleep, go to the bathroom, get water....did his parents not notice when he didn't come home?) This is what we would call suspending reality, making the reader take on disbelief of epic proportions to believe that a small child could live this way. Pierre commences day after day yelling the meaningless of life to his fellow peers and winds up frustrating them all to the point of psychotic breakdowns, yet while all these children are derailing, all of the teachers and parents are off living la vida loca.

Months go by and while all the invisible adults are off drinking and working 24/7 the group of fifth graders kill a dog, become grave robbers, rape a student and lose all sense of themselves. During all the dirty deeds they create a nice pile of the proof at the feet of Pierre leaving him evidence so he can see reason and the meaning of life. {Again, how could the adults who show up later in this book possibly not know a 13 year old child was living in a tree} After the parents do find out, the media go's nuts and in a pile of crap called art by society, the children sell it for millions of dollars.......and then they get sick of Pierre drag him off his tree, beat him to death, burn his body in a barn and live happily ever after.

So what did I think? A complete utter waste of my time, a group of sick 5th grade freaks that need to go to jail, parents who need to be investigated by CPS and before Pierre fell to his untimely death I would of said:

Pierre! You are 13! Get over yourself and grow some pubic hair.

Ahhh, No.

Gratuitous violence for the sake of gratuitous violence....no thanks.

Various Positions by Martha Schabas
June 28, 2011 by Doubleday
Review Copy

Various Positions...um was this an Erotica, because I thought it was a teen book....my bad. By positions, as in not how far I can stretch my ballerina body but how many funky disgusting sex acts I can engage in at the age of 14?

For real you are 14!!! Please go chase butterfly's before babies start falling out of your vagina and all us tax payers have to pay for it.

Are these authors who write this stuff for real? Or is it horny old men punking us? How does this nonsense get published and marketed to underage children, particularly impressionable young girls? Is Martha Schabas really that creepy old pervert who owns MTV and is responsible for shows like 16 and Pregnant, Skins and How to get Herpes when Im 12?

I would never have read this if Id known what it was actually about, unfortunately before reviews started coming out I had already accepted a review copy.....and hitting the book more than half way through I was done with its perverse plotline.

Thank goodness I had a trash can near by because that's where this piece of garbage went.

Unacceptable for YA literature but in a pinch could be used to line bird cages.

Sick. More Sick. So Sick

Book Review~The Girl Below by Bianca Zander

The Girl Below by Bianca Zander
June 19, 2012 by William Morrow Paperbacks
Paperback: 352 pages
Review Copy
Suki Piper is a stranger in her hometown. . . .

After ten years in New Zealand, Suki returns to London, to a city that won’t let her in. However, a chance visit with Peggy—an old family friend who still lives in the building where she grew up—convinces Suki that there is a way to reconnect with the life she left behind a decade earlier. But the more involved she becomes with Peggy’s dysfunctional family, including Peggy’s wayward sixteen-year-old grandson, the more Suki finds herself mysteriously slipping back in time—to the night of a party her parents threw in their garden more than twenty years ago, when something happened in an old, long-unused air-raid shelter. . . .

Thoughts

No one really knows why Suki Piper left town ten years ago.....and unfortunately nobody really cares, nor does anyone care when Suki comes back home. With no job, no close friends and a nonexistent family, Suki is depressed and spends most the book in this mopey cloud that follows her around. She has no place to live and hops around from from acquaintance to acquaintance until she wears out her welcome. When she does wind up finding a job through Pippa ( a gal who's family does become Suki's best friends) Suki spends her days looking after Pippa's mom and rebellious teenage son Caleb, as well as telling the reader past events in her life. As days go by and relationships form {one questionable in the crossing the line} Suki begins to work through her low self esteem and the horrible events that happened to her long ago in a creepy old air raid shelter. {insert shuddering}

The Girl Below was not what I expected, with almost a Gothic feel, Zander delivered a haunted mystery that until the last page (and maybe not even then) did I finally grasp what transpired. Its filled with a depth I did not expect and reaching into self discovery with pockets of smart writing. Suki was a somewhat challenging character to like due to her immature qualities and self deprecating attitude, at times I just wanted to buy her an ice cream cone and tell her to GROW UP then again sometimes I wanted to hold her and pat her backside telling her it would be ok. Something was off about Suki, something disturbing lurking under the surface, the subtle creepy factor simmering underneath the layers, until the end when it boils over.

A much darker read than I thought I was getting myself into but nonetheless a very bold debut. I would recommend this to readers who enjoy fragmented story telling with an eerie almost cold feeling. Perfect for your fall or winter reading list.

Rating

Recommended to adult readers and contains: Violence, mild language &Sexuality

The Saturday Spotlight with Nancy Mangano and Giveaway!

Welcome to the Saturday Spotlight, a weekly feature that shines the light on Indie and Debut authors. This week I have pleasure introducing readers to:

NANCY MANGANO
~Author of A Passion for Prying~

Passion and Writing
by Nancy Mangano 2012

Hi. My name is Nancy Mangano and I am the author of A Passion for Prying. The 330 page read is a mix of the murder mystery/humor/women’s contemporary fiction genre, and an all around fun read!

Natalie North is a Los Angeles licensed private investigator who chases cheating partners while always wearing a great pair of high heels! Natalie aches to work a gritty felony case, and when she becomes the target of a botched homicide, Natalie gets her wish to solve a murder case: her own attempted slaying!

Toss into the mix Natalie’s love quandary, torn between Darren McAllister, the hotshot L.A. deputy district attorney, and Jett Jaso, the hunky Hollywood actor, and Natalie’s life takes on a deeper web of intrigue, danger and passion.

Natalie North, the super sleuth who catches unfaithful partners with a spark of style and a great pair of high heels, will warm the hearts of readers.

I began writing stories at a young age, and upon my graduation from high school, I received a letter from an English teacher telling me that I should seriously consider a career as a writer. At the young age of eighteen, I had other aspirations in mind, but I did know that someday I would sit down and write novels. With a background in both law enforcement and communications/radio-TV-film, I came upon the idea to write a series based on a female private detective who solves crimes through comedy, grit, sheer determination and a touch of style and glamour. Like Natalie, the main character, I love fashion, style and makeup and I weave the glamour scene throughout the novel, which takes place in the Los Angeles/Hollywood area.

I am happy to say that I have received three awards for my debut novel, A Passion for Prying:

Best NEW Mystery Author Books and Authors

2011 Best Book of the Year Murder Mystery Books and Authors

2012 Honorable Mention/Mystery Genre Los Angeles Book Festival

I am busy writing my second novel, Murder Can Be Complicated, which is the second book in the Natalie North series. I am also happy to share that in addition to novels, I am a screenwriter and I currently have two screenplays on the Hollywood market: Pretties on the Prowl (a female buddy comedy) and Fatal Forgiveness (a family drama).

For more information on my novel, A Passion for Prying, and me as an author, please visit my author website at www.nancymangano.com

Thank you so much for showing an interest in my novel, A Passion for Prying, and I truly hope that you have as much fun reading the book as I had writing it!

*************************************************************************************************************
Thanks Nancy for stopping by, you sound like a very busy lady! Best of luck to you and your fun series! I love all the pink on the cover of your book!!

GIVEAWAY

Today Nancy is giving away one signed hardback copy of her book Passion for Prying. To enter please just leave a comment, open to US residents only. Winner will be drawn June 23, 2012.

In A Passion for Prying by criminal justice enthusiast Nancy Mangano, readers follow the sassy PI in her business of busting adulterous partners. And while no one can catch a cheating husband faster, Natalie is ready for a bigger challenge.

When a murder-suicide takes place at a nearby diner, Natalie finally has a chance to prove herself. But does she have what it takes? A Passion for Prying is a spicy read packed with witty humor and a touch of the risqué. On a mission to solve the murder of this young couple, Natalie abandons her normally cautious habits and winds up in some trouble of her own. A few weeks into the case, she realizes she may be uncovering the plot behind her own murder. Behind the scenes, Natalie is torn between Darren McAllister, the hotshot L.A. deputy district attorney, and Jett Jaso, the handsome Hollywood actor. Unable to choose, Natalie weaves an even deeper web of intrigue, danger and passion.

Married with Zombies Read Along~Week 4

Whew-Hew, its zombie time! Its week four of our Married with Zombies scavenger hunt read along. Hosted by Missie, Jen, Loretta, Ashley and myself. This week Im hosting, so link up your answers at the end of the post and head over to Missie's to find next week questions.

Discussion-Week 4

In chapter 16 David and Sarah are attacked by freezer zombies in chef attire. Despite its rotten food and disgusting kitchen, lets think about what it could of been before the attack, give me a picture of your dream kitchen or a pic of you cooking your favorite food in your own kitchen... or both.

Ohhhh, lets talk about kitchens! Unfortunately I have a very small kitchen which you can see a picture of here.....but its ok for a girl to dream, I would love to have one that looks like this............{Photo found on Pinterest}

In Chapter 16, David winds up killing those freezer zombies with a blank show me your best one....and yes it must be yours.

This would be my Pampered Chef Sudoku.......me kill a zombie good with this one.

In Chapter 17 David and Sarah find themselves with some cult like people and wind up trapped. How would you escape? Ropes? Blankets....show me your best.

Trapped in a room with just a bed, Id probably be without ropes, so I guess sheets and blankets would have to do the trick, I myself am not twisting sheets for this read-along, so Ill leave it to your imagination.

In Chapter 19 David and Sarah find a surprise in the car they stole...in the midst of crazy its a nice welcome. Now whip me up your favorite one and share......you can include recipes!!

Friends I am not a big drinker, but I do love a good Sangria......or even a fabulous Sangrita as shown here courtesy of my friend Tammy.......

2 Cups Ginger Ale or Club soda {Hint: I like Ginger Ale}
Prep: Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon and orange into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and add sugar and brandy. I also throw in sliced strawberry's, blueberries, kiwi, a shot of rum, raspberries, or any fruit that floats my boat.
Chill overnight. Add ginger ale or club soda just before serving. Serve with tons of ice.

In chapter 20, Sarah gets to kill a zombie with a cash register, bringing back memories of her worst retail job ever....so tell me whats the worst job you've had......if you can include pictures in your uniform I will die laughing.....or a picture of the place you worked.

I think the worst job I ever had was at a fast food restaurant called Hardee's. I worked there for about 6 months and it was the most horrible job ever. I came home everyday smelling like a dirty greasy cheeseburger which eventually made its way into my pores, my hair, my shoes.......BLACH!!!! No pictures sorry...I burned them. Ok not really, but I have no pictures of me in that stinky gross uniform.
 can include recipes!!

Mini-Reviews~Featuring Guest Blogger Tonya

Its time for Mini-Reviews. Today my guest blogger Tonya will be sharing some of her reads over the past few weeks. From the great to the not so great here they are..............

Ugly to Start With by John Michael Cummings
Oct 1, 2011 by West Virginia Publishing

What? What in the heck just happened? I feel as if I wasted a bunch of hours, reading nothing about nothing.

Don't ask me to tell you what this book was about, nonsense and more nonsense. The only thing I know for sure is Jason is the main character and his family is dysfunctional, with a capital D. Beyond that, I am without words. I could list so many things I didn't like about it. The characters lacked depth. The homosexual scene was hard for me due to it being so graphic and well really, all of it was painful.

Please if you are going to write a book, make it be something worth reading, not pointless, dull and disgusting. I feel the need to shower after reading this book.

I give this book an F.

Tess, Terrorists and the Tiara by Terry Baldwin
August 10, 2011 by Middleton Books

Tess and her sister are going for a month to their grandparents' cabin to help out with their grandmother, who has Alzheimer's. Whoever gets the most helpful points wins their grandmother's crown from when she won the Miss Land of the Free pageant. Tess has a very active imagination, so what starts out as someone she think might be trying to steal the crown, turns into terrorists and a plot against them.

But with Tess's overactive imagination, has she finally gone too far? When there is an explosion at the suspicious house, and her grandmother along with the little autistic girl living there go missing, she thinks she might be in more trouble than she bargained for, as well as lost the helpful points race. In fact, she might even be arrested. (See how her imagination runs wild in this book!)

Young girls will adore this quick paced story about a young girl, maybe they can see themselves in Tess. Very good book to read, teaches a few good lessons!

I received a free copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I give this book an A.

Far From Good by Stephen Van Zant
Publisher: Winepress Publishing (June 2011)

1974 - Where families stayed together, where kids roamed and were safe, and where whites were superior, or at least few still thought they were.

Sam is a 7th grade boy, about to go into 8th grade. His mom and dad have separated, with his mom and him having to move to another house and his dad moving to Louisville. The only constant in Sam's life are his friends. All of them were looking forward to a nice long summer, that is until Sam witnessed an altercation between the mean football coach, Coach Bedford and Dewayne Webb, a black student. These 2 had never gotten along. What Sam witnessed puts him in fear to tell the truth.

Who are they going to believe, a black kid or the white esteemed football coach, Coach Bedford?

What happens sets the stage for a perfect cresendo of chaos. You will LOVE this book. Without a doubt, one of the best books I have read in a long time. Takes on the the air of Stand By Me. However, the writing is downright enthralling. I found all of the characters easy to like and follow along.

I do hope Mr. Van Zant will consider continuing to tell stories, he has a knack for it!

Thank you to the publishing copy for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I give this book an A+.

**Thanks Tonya for sharing those thoughts on these books, Ill be sure to stay clear of that first one, yikes!!! Far From Good sounds really interesting.......at least you got 2 out of the 3 for good reads!

Book Review~Take This Regret by A.L Jackson

Take This Regret by A.L Jackson
July 28, 2011 by Coffee Shop Publishing
Paperback, 242 Pages
Purchased

Christian and Elizabeth have sizzling chemistry, a future as brilliant lawyers and the world in the palm of their hands.....well that's how they see it anyway. Elizabeth cannot wait to be a lawyer and career means everything to Christian and as expected by his presumptuous father, he aspires to take over the family law firm in New York. Life is going to be a great and Elizabeth will be with him, the only possible outcome is success. Little does Christian know that life can be turned upside down in a second, when Elizabeth shares the news of her pregnancy, Christians knee jerk reaction is anger and frustration, no way is he giving up his dreams or all his hard work to be tied down to some kid and a life he doesn't want even before his life has begun. He has one year left of school and its off to become that successful rich lawyer and while he wants his life to be with Elizabeth, family and parenthood isn't something he's contemplated. So what does this immature, selfish boy do? Out of shock and confusion Christian walks away from Elizabeth, breaks her heart in the process and doesn't look back...until five years later.

Not a day has gone by that Christian hasn't had second thoughts and grieved over the choice he made, knowing that Elizabeth and his child are out in the world somewhere he carries around constant guilt. While five years have moved along, the thoughts of his mistake have never seemed to fade, he knows what he did was wrong but has no idea how to fix it. Even the wealth that comes from working for his fathers company can't quiet the pain inside him. So when opportunity arises for Christian to take over the firms San Diego office he quickly jumps at the opportunity, not so much for the promotion but in the hopes that Elizabeth might be there, seeing how its her hometown. Working up the courage to contact her or even see her though is something he's not ready to face until a fated almost freaky encounter leaves him face to face with none other than the daughter he left behind. Without knowing who she is, there is an immediate change in his soul and he knows he must make amends for his mistake, he must be a part of his daughters life and do all he can to win back the only woman he's ever loved.

Elizabeth has had a long five years. Still recovering from the loss of Christian, his betrayal and the loss of her dreams to become a lawyer, shes done everything in her power to make a life for her and Lizzie, things have been hard financially but with the support of a few close friends and family and a good job at a bank, she has made a happy home for them.

When Christian returns like a hurricane back into her life, Elizabeth is terrified and furious. How dare he come back after five years to find them and try to be a father. How can he make up for betraying her, abandoning their child? How can her heart stand to see her daughter fall in love with him and watch as her tender broken heart begins to fall back in love with him too? She's so angry and jealous that she can't even see straight, her family is mad, her daughter is joyous and Christian is doing everything a broken man trying to win his family back is doing. A reasonable likable character we meet in the beginning becomes a sour and desperate woman, so many questions present themselves but the only real question that matters is, can she trust him or will he just get his full and leave them again to pick up the pieces?

Oh this book was amazing. I know I gush like a school girl, but I cannot contain myself when I find a story that leaves me clutching its pages to my heart....or in this case my Nook to my heart. Christian and Elizabeth's story is so common, yet so redeeming as we see Christian transform from this arrogant young guy into an astounding developed man. It was a breathtaking read of emotion from hating Christian in the beginning and loving Elizabeth to in the middle seeing the character roles reversed and wind up loving Christian and detesting Elizabeth and in the end loving them both. For me personally I was able to relate to Elizabeth profoundly due to being a teen mother myself {although Elizabeth was 20} and remembering the dreams I gave up but knowing instantly that I wanted that baby more than life itself. The road paved with second chances has the power to capture even the toughest cynic and it certainly captured me. My heart broke with this story, I cried for this story and I fell in love with all the characters from beginning to end.
