Blog with Bites Vamp- Week Hot Picks (2)

Todays Hot Pick for The Blog With Bites Vamp-Week is going to be
Lestat
By far one of the most interesting Vampires in literature and on the screen.

Lestat's Famous Quote

"I'm the vampire Lestat. Remember me? The vampire who became a super rock star, the one who wrote the autobiography? The one with the blond hair and the grey, and the insatiable desire for visibility and fame? You remember..."

Queen of The Damned was kind of a flop for me as far as the movie go's......but the whole story behind Lestat and his inner-stuggles made me a fan, I thought this was Anne Rice's best character, and Stuart Townsend didnt look to shabby playing the tortured rock star.

BOOK PICK- Salems Lot by Stephen King

The best info I found on this book was on Wikipedia (If you want to read TONS more check it out….) I loved Salems Lot, it was one of the first vampire books I read. The vampires are scary scary scary- not the kind that's in touch with their emotions...........

Synopsis:

Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot—is about the slow takeover of an insular hamlet called Jerusalem's Lot by a vampire patterned after Bram Stoker's Dracula—the story has two elements: a small American town, (somewhere in Maine of course) where people are disconnected from each other, quietly nursing their potential for evil; and a mixed bag of rational, goodhearted people, including a writer, who band together to fight that evil.

Simply taken as a contemporary vampire novel, great fun to read, and has been very influential in the horror genre. But it's also a sly piece of social commentary. As King said in 1983, "In 'Salem's Lot, the thing that really scared me was not vampires, but the town in the daytime, the town that was empty, knowing that there were things in closets, that there were people tucked under beds, under the concrete pilings of all those trailers. (Taken from GoodReads.com)

From Wilipedia and Stephen Kings website, he states that idea to write Salem's Lot came to him while teaching a high school Fantasy and Science Fiction course at Hampden Academy, King was inspired by Dracula, one of the books covered in the class and wondered what would happen if Dracula came back to the 21st century.

  3. I saw Townsend so much more as Lestat than Cruise, even though Cruises acting was so much better. Great pick. Salem's Lot scared the cheetos out of me. ♥ Parajunkee
