Book Synopsis

They say you can't have your cake and eat it too. But who would want a cake they couldn't eat? Just ask Emma Rae Travis about that. She's a baker of confections who is diabetic and can't enjoy them. When Emma meets Jackson Drake, the escapee from Corporate America who is starting a wedding destination hotel to fulfill a dream that belonged to someone else, this twosome and their crazy family ties bring new meaning to the term "family circus." The Atlanta social scene will never be the same! (Goodreads)

Review

Life cant get much better for Emma she’s smart, a talented cake designer and has just landed a new job for a fancy wedding hotel. Not only is this an opportunity of a lifetime but her new boss Jackson and owner of the hotel is basically drop dead gorgeous and single. What could go wrong….?

Well first off Emma is diabetic, a rare case of irony for the line of work she’s in, daily insulin and monitoring help the situation but never get Emma or her inspirations down. Secondly, working for Jackson has defiantly drawn her eye towards him and him for her as well. The two cannot deny the sparkling chemistry between them, but Jackson is not single in his heart, still recovering from the death of his first wife Desi he continuously pushes Emma away. Between the budding romance, a grand opening that will push Emma to the limit and her "divorced" parents being in the same town at the same time equals a recipe that could lead to disaster.

I adored this lovely and tasty little tail of romance and yummy cake. The writing was light and fun and full of wedding tips and recipes before each chapter. Bricker whips up her own delightful recipe with fabulous baker Emma Rae Travis. Along with the humor, happiness and recipes the story also offers believable seriousness and heartache with Jackson’s struggles and also with Emma’s diabetic issues. If you love romance, chick-lit or anything about weddings and baking you will love this book!!!
