TGIF {20}- Love-Hate Relationships

Tgif is a weekly meme hosted and created by Ginger at Greads. This feature lets us wrap up the week and also poses a weekly question pertaining to blogging, books and what have you. This weeks question is:

Love-Hate Relationship: Which characters from a book do you love to hate?

Bella Swan from The Twilight Series

Oh Bella...how I love that you love passionately and are willing to die for the people in your life. I love that you don't realize your own beauty and that I could be bff's with you. But how I hate you for tripping so much and whining and nagging and seeming to get everything you want without really losing anything at all, you fascinating one-dimensional character..

ps- Dear Bella- I secretly love you...:)

Romeo from Romeo and Juliet

ROMEO...seriously dude your twelve!!! Get over yourself and go find a frog to play with or whatever it is that 12 yr.old boys do. Although this epic love story tends to create a picture of more mature teenagers (in my mind I see 17-18 year olds) the book actually has them at 13&16 and I'm the first one to admit the death made the story all tragic and haunting but romantic.....I don't think so. Romantic is Ally and Noah from the Notebook dying together in bed holding hands at like 90...I sobbed for like a week!!!

Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights

Dear Heath, I love your dark hair and your dark eyes and the way you creepy-stare all intensely, but seriously your a bit jacked up. As Whoppi would say: Go find some chains and rattle them in a house somewhere or better yet... Tina would say: grow a pair and just tell the girl you love her....Geezzzzz....

Hilly Holbrook from The Help

Grrrr....Hilly you are a stuck up snob and a racist that makes all white women cringe. By far the worst, meanest, snottiest character I've had the pleasure reading about. The Help is one of my favorite books, I hated Hilly but I loved that the character made me want to crawl inside and slap her!!!

wow amazing picks girl. I love and hate Bella too. She is a bit annoying, and she gets Edward...lol The other picks are great too. I didn't realize Romeo was that young I think of them being bout 17-18 too!!! I really only picked one person but she def tops the hate list. There is no love for her but I do love to hate her cause its those characters that bring out the emotions in us.
And I don't really like snow. Its beautiful but I hate being cold and wet. Also let me know how Footloose is.

  4. I have a love hate relationship with Bella too. Only I love that she is a bit clumsy (because I am too), but I do hate the whining and "OMG I can't live without my vampire who I've known for a whole month."

As for Heathcliff he is kind of creepy, but I love the love he has for Kathy. I mean any man who can say and mean "If he loved you with all the power of his soul for a whole lifetime, he couldn’t love you as much as I do in a single day" he has my heart completely.

For my best love hate relationship would be Scarlett. That girl killed me at times but I still love her something fierce.

I hope footloose is good. I can't wait to see what they did with the remake.

  5. I agree about Bella

good luck with Footloose. I am totally old school and don't want to see it ruined. Plus I know the whole plot anyways. I saw a preview for it when I saw abandon. Liked seeing Dennis Quaid.

  6. Your description of Bella literally had me laughing out loud! I don't think you could have described her any better. (But deep down, I think we all love that she got her too-happy ending).

  8. Umm... what does snow look like. hehehe

Just kidding. I know what it looks like... I think. We just never get it down here.

Oh, and I kind of like that Bella is a bit clumsy. It's cute, says the girl this trips while sitting. Yup, that's me.

    Happy Weekend, T!

Aw... it's just cold here, no snow. :(

  12. hahaha, so I totally LOL'd at some of these. YES Romeo is twelve!!! I also felt the same about Hamlet. Dude's 30 years old and has more mommy issues than Sigmund Freud's client list.

*claps hands* Oh,you must tell me how you like Footloose! I really hope it's a good remake too.

Also, your list had me laughing so hard I was crying. *whispers* I secretly love Bella, too. But how I hate you for tripping so much and whining and nagging and seeming to get everything you want without really losing anything at all, you fascinating one-dimensional character.. LMAO!!! Although, my favorite quote would be telling Heathcliff to grow a paid. BLAHAHAHA! Awesome. I'm kind of in love with you right now.

  14. You must tell me what you thought of Footloose. I saw it opening week and LOVED it! It was every bit as good as the original, and in some ways it was better.

I loved the character of Willard...he stole he show. LOL.

No one can replace Kevin Bacon in my heart, but there was lots to love about the remake.

  15. Truly, you're not really supposed to like Romeo. You're supposed to see him as an idiot, and Juliet too. It's often forgotten that Romeo and Juliet was actually a deconstruction of the cliche romantic comedies of Shakespeare's time. Note that it's indistinguishable from a comedy up until Mercutio's death, at which point everything goes to hell.
