~Coming Soon~

Prey by Andrew Fukuda
Jan 29, 2013 by Saint Martins Press

For Gene and the remaining humans—or hepers—death is just a heartbeat away. On the run and hunted by society, they must find a way to survive in The Vast... and avoid the hungry predators tracking them in the dark. But they’re not the only things following Gene. He’s haunted by the girl he left behind and his burgeoning feelings for Sissy, the human girl at his side.

When they discover a refuge of exiled humans living high in the mountains, Gene and his friends think they’re finally safe. Led by a group of intensely secretive elders, the civilisation begins to raise more questions than answers. A strict code of behaviour is the rule, harsh punishments are meted out, young men are nowhere to be found—and Gene begins to wonder if the world they’ve entered is just as evil as the one they left behind. As life at the refuge grows more perilous, he and Sissy only grow closer. In an increasingly violent world, all they have is each other... if they can only stay alive.

Falling for You by Lisa Schroeder

Rae's always dreamed of dating a guy like Nathan. He’s nothing like her abusive stepfather—in other words, he’s sweet. But the closer they get, the more Nathan wants of her time, of her love, of her...and the less she wants to give. As Rae’s affection for Nathan turns to fear, she leans on her friend Leo for support. With Leo, she feels lighter, happier. And possessive Nathan becomes jealous.

Then a tragedy lands Rae in the ICU. Now, hovering between life and death, Rae must find the light amid the darkness…and the strength to fight for life and the love she deserves.

After All by Jolene B. Perry
Sept 2012 (Indie)
Mia is lucky enough to be dating the hottest guy in school. Now, if she could just get her home life in order. She hatches a plan to get her hopelessly scruffy father, Brandt, interested in their new neighbor, Ashley. Not only is Ashley pretty cool, but Mia’s dad has to be lonely, and anything to distract him from grilling Mia about her life is a good thing.

Twenty-five-year-old Ashley wants nothing more than to focus on her new career as an attorney. Romantic relationships are not part of the plan. No matter how perfect Brandt may seem, her past tells her that men aren’t to be trusted. As Mia and Ashley spend more time together—Mia jumping headfirst into a too-adult relationship, and
Ashley running away from a tamer version of the same thing—they begin to bond over their shared history of parental abuse. Ashley’s father. Mia’s mother. While Ashley begins to let her guard down with Brandt, Mia’s relationship is speeding into new territory. And when Ashley opens a file at work, she learns that Mia’s home situation was a lot more dramatic than she let on. There’s suddenly a lot to overcome for both girls if they’re going to have the happily ever after that Mia imagined.

Drain You by M. Beth Bloom
July 24, 2012 by HarperTeen

Every night I'd lie there in bed and look out at the hills behind our house, listening. I knew there'd be consequences. Actions meant reactions. Sunrises meant sunsets. My fear was too permanent, lasting longer than eyeliner, something I wore every day and didn't wash off. Quinlan Lacey's life is a red carpet of weird fashions, hip bands, random parties, and chilling by the pool with her on-and-off BFF Libby. There's also her boring job (minimum wage), a crushed-out coworker (way too interested), her summer plans (nada), and her parents (totally clueless). Then one night she meets gorgeous James, and Quinn's whole world turns crazy, Technicolor, 3-D, fireworks, whatever. But with good comes bad and unfortunately, Quinn's new romance brings with it some majorly evil baggage. Now, to make things right, she has to do a lot of things wrong (breaking and entering, kidnapping, lying, you name it).

  • I've heard such good things about The Hunt, I really want to read that one so I can be ready for The Prey. The whole world sounds so creepy, and I know it will most likely freak me out, but I want to read it anyway. I'm a glutton for punishment apparently:)

  • "Falling for You" sounds great though a bit depressing.

p.s. Really curious to read your review of "The Opportunits". I've got friends who constantly rave about the book but I'm still a bit reluctant to start it.

Prey sounds just like The Hunt! And I'm kind of over stories about abusive relationships. Or maybe I'm just trying to convince myself not to crave too much. I spent way too much on book while I was in NOLA. LOL
