The Saturday Spotlight with Catherine West

Welcome to the Saturday Spotlight a weekly feature hosted by Tinasbookreviews and is all about helping authors get the word out about the great books they write. This week I have the pleasure of introducing readers to....

~CATHERINE WEST~
Q&A

Hi Cathy and welcome to the blog....Please Tell us about yourself.

I was born and raised in Bermuda, which is a tiny British colony, about 700 miles off of North Carolina. I went to school here as well as in England, and university in Canada. I love all flowers, especially roses, orchids and sunflowers. I love dogs. Love reading writing and singing on the worship team at church!

What inspired you to write Yesterdays Tomorrow?

I love that turbulent era of the '60's and I began to read up on the war. I found the idea of a female journalist heading into a war zone absolutely fascinating, so it just kind of catapulted from there, and once the idea took hold, I couldn't let it go.

What authors have inspired you?

Many! In particular, Deborah Raney. She really got behind me on this book and her encouragement helped keep me going when a lot of others were saying give it up! We have so many great authors that belong to American Christian Fiction Writers. I find them ALL inspiring!

Since your book is a story about inspiring the soul, how do you stay inspired?

I listen to a lot of music, praise and secular. I read a lot in the genre I write in. I talk to God a lot, sometimes I think He's like, "Oh, no, here she comes..." Ha. I do a lot of my thinking when I'm out walking with my dog. I ponder new ideas or chew on whatever manuscript I'm working on. I try not to do this while driving. It's kind of dangerous. I once ended up about a mile past where I was headed, without even realizing I'd missed the turn!

Can you share any future projects?

Sure! My next completed manuscript is called Hidden in the Heart, and it's about a young woman's search for her birth family. It's more of a women's fiction novel as opposed to straight romance, but there is romance in there! I'm also working on a family saga novel called Reprisal, and a romance called First Harvest.

Last great movie you saw?

Hmm. Great? I'm not sure. Movies have a way of disappointing me. I really loved The Blind Side and The Proposal. Lately, I enjoyed The Social Network.

What are you reading now?

I have several books going on my iPad at the moment, but I'm just finishing up The Apothecary's Daughter, and trying to get through The Postmistress.

*Thanks Cathy for stopping by and best of luck with your book Yesterdays Tomorrow!! You can find out more about Cathy and her books HERE.

Yesterdays Tomorrow

He's determined to keep his secrets to himself.

Vietnam, 1967.

Independent, career-driven journalist Kristin Taylor wants two things: to honor her father's memory by becoming an award-winning overseas correspondent and to keep tabs on her only brother, Teddy, who signed up for the war against their mother's wishes. Brilliant photographer Luke Maddox, silent and brooding, exudes mystery. Kristin is convinced he's hiding something.

Willing to risk it all for what they believe in, Kristin and Luke engage in their own tumultuous battle until, in an unexpected twist, they're forced to work together. Ambushed by love, they must decide whether or not to set aside their own private agendas for the hope of tomorrow that has captured their hearts. A poignant love story set amidst the tumultuous Vietnam War......
