Sydney always knew college would be an adventure and one she always looked forward to. After an acceptance to Purdue and an eagerness to leave home and begin her life, Sydney is all but unprepared to fall in love, but the summer after graduation she does just that. Ethan blows into her life like a whirlwind and for the first time she experiences true love, throwing a major wrench in her future plans.....she doesn't want to be apart knowing that distance and time could change their relationship, but Ethan is already in his second year of college and knows how important school is and how much they both need to be successful and accomplish those goals. So at the end of summer they say goodbye and commit to stay together and maintain a long distance relationship. At first things are great, they talk, see each other during breaks and stay committed to the relationship. Over time though especially during Sydneys last year of college, the idea of Ethan and the long time apart feels more like work than love. Ethan is ready to take things to the next level.....marriage, family....while Sydney still wants the freedom to be young and enjoy herself, especially partying with her friends and living a 20 something life.
On such a night, Sydney goes out with her best friends and winds up more drunk than shes ever been. A guy shes hung out with for years and who has become a great friend, becomes much more that night......out of carelessness and drunkenness she sleeps with him and 8 weeks later that drunken, cheating, night of debauchery brings her.....an unwanted pregnancy and having to tell Ethan the news...........
When Sydney breaks the news to Ethan he is devastated and while the two remain friends, the relationship ends. Syndney is now facing pregnancy and single parent hood alone, scared and confused. With the support of her older sister, Sydney decides that she wants to keep the baby, even though the "best friend" who impregnated her basically tells her to go the hell, the future does not look impossible. After her little girl is born, Sydney makes the best out of the life she has. A good job, family support and an unexpected romance all help make life that much sweeter.
One Pink Line spans between two generations the past told through Syndey and the future told through Grace, the baby who changed the life of everyone. As we hear the past and the present, it all leads up to how these characters all came together. We find out with Grace about her father, her family and the road her mothers life took after the birth.

Charming, sweet and a pleasant surprise was the story I found in One Pink Line. I loved Silver's version of a story we've heard hundred times, girl meets boy, girl gets pregnant, both lives change....however what this book offers is generational span between mothers and daughters. I loved the seriousness of the matter and the fact that it felt light and simple and featured Prince Charming, cause be still my heart even I wanted to marry Ethan. There's something to be said about the clean cut, charming good guy who is handsome, forgiving and loves with all his heart...**swoon, double swoon**
I loved reading this, the writing was fun, moved along nicely and stands out as a successful Indie that many will love. Sydney and Grace's story beat the odds and gave us a happily ever after worth hoping for.

This one reminds me of the movie "Going the Distance" which Drew Barrymore, which was cute. I like the sound of this one and will check it out. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, Tina!
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds like a really good read. I love books that seem so real and like the situations could happen to anyone. I'll have to check this one out.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this book. I've got it scheduled for review in a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteWhat I liked was that it wasn't sappy sweet, but it was still just a really fun read.
Okay, now I want to marry Ethan!!! He sounds like the perfect prince charming.
