Real Life experiences – These helped me develop the narrative and initial ideas.
I had many influences and inspirations for Deadly to Love but here are my top 10.
Real Life experiences – These helped me develop the narrative and initial ideas.

Friends, family and people I’ve met – I based certain aspects of the characters around them to hopefully try and make them easier to relate to and more believable.
Observing my surroundings – I watched how people interacted and spoke. A few times funny things happened that I adapted so I could use them in the book.
Research for characters– helped me find and develop the paranormal elements.
Dreams – These gave me little ideas to fit in here and there but this didn’t happen so much with Deadly to Love
Music – Music helped me write certain parts and bring the images to life in my mind. By listening to the right kind of music for the scene it created a certain atmosphere in my head and helped the words flow.
Research by taking part in activities – I signed up to sites/games I wanted to include in the novel. This gave me experience so I was able to hopefully create a believable romance narrative that was modern.
Other novels in the same genre – These aided me in planning the book and gave me an idea of how to structure it.
Images – Pictures, sketches and other art helped me develop how the paranormal characters looked and moved.
My favorite authors – In general they inspired me to start writing.
Thanks to Tina for hosting me on her great blog and remember to check out Deadly to Love and the rest of the tour stops here: Tour.

Mia Hoddell lives in the UK with her family and two cats. She spends most of her time writing or reading and her preferred genre is Young Adult, Paranormal Romance. Before 2009, Mia wouldn't even pick up a book and was more interested in sports. However she finally found some novels that captured her interest and developed a love of both reading and writing. Mia began with poems and after getting two published in separate anthologies she moved on to short stories. Although she enjoyed this, Mia found she had too much to tell with too little space, so later on she created her first series The Wanderer Trilogy and from there other ideas have emerged which she hopes to turn into novels as well. Elemental Killers is her second series and book two will be out soon.

It's interesting how she said other books in the genre helped her to plan the book, I've heard the opposite from a lot of authors - that they stay away from their own genre while writing. It's fun to see how each author approaches their book differently!!!
