Its hard enough being the new kid in school, having crazy unmanageable red hair....and having super hot boys live next door, who may or may not have been your elementary sand box mates and who may or may not make your toes curl and your face turn red....let alone being a magnet for foul smelling soul sucking demons. Needless to say, the chance of Aurora Lahey focusing on homework, meeting new friends and settling down may not be in the cards for her probable future.
While Aurora knows shes different and sees things most only have nightmares about, she has no clue why or how she is a magnet to the demons and scary things living in the world. Like flies on poop these monsters find her anywhere and they seem to be getting stronger and outwitting her by the second. Scared, alone and desperate to protect her family, Aurora is seriously stressed out. At least that is until she meets up with The Hex Boys, finds her guardian angel and discovers shes apart of a special team known as the Divinicus Nex (lol- that sounded like Law and Order). they will work together to figure out why the attacks have escalated and how they can stop them.
Demons at Deadnight was super fun and had an amusing mix of humor and drama. I loved loved loved the sense of friendship and the creative way A&E Kirk worked a strong family unit into a paranormal story. The Hex Boys live up to the hype of super smoking heroes who offer plenty of entertainment and while Aurora was certainly funny and snarky there where a few things about our MC that made me feel for the demons. I could understand the whole wanting to throw her around due to her over the top stubbornness, her constant put myself in dangerous situations and refusal of good advice even when she and readers knew it was for the best. There would be parts in the story when I was knee-deep in laughing and checking myself for thinking about a Hex Boy and where does Aurora go...(as I face-palm my head) oh shes off getting herself into trouble again needing to be saved by said Hex boy....but then I had to think, is this really due to a lack of intelligence? I ponder the thought, wondering if this was not intentional so she could see yummies on tummies......she may be more smart than your average bear that Aurora.......
Although I didn't get crazy ga-ga for the Hex boys...(I like my men much older....maybe I could go for the dad...lol...if he had chiseled abs of course..or fast forward the boys to 25 in the next book) I know my fellow blog friends are all up in arms keeping the harem all to themselves and I cant fail to admit the eyes, abs and special skills can make a girl go swoon. The Hex Boys have these eyes and these tricks that will reel you with their magic charm.... if your up for a fun adventure into dark corners, feisty red heads, diabolic demon slayers, knock you out kisses, then look no further!

Hahahaha I like that you're coming in from a different angle on Aurora's stubbornness...maybe it's intentional to get herself in the presence of a certain group of hot boys. Can't really blame her for that:) I adored the witty banter in this one, and I of course love fighting over the Hex Boys with you, Jen, Melissa, Missie and now Ashley. Good times.
ReplyDelete"I ponder the thought, wondering if this was not intentional so she could see yummies on tummies......she may be more smart than your average bear that Aurora."
ReplyDeleteI seriously think you're on to something there, Tina. ;) I already downloaded a sample of this from B&N but would love to win an e-copy of this one. Count me in! rummanaha at hotmail dot com
yummies on tummies!
ReplyDeleteLMAO! Oh, T! You crack me up. I bet you could totally be a character in this book and really give the guys some good snark to stump them.
And isn't it crazy how everyone keeps going after MY BOYFRIEND, Ayden. What's a girl got to do to keep her guy safe?
I love funny books, so I really hope I win a copy of Demons at Deadnight:) Thanks for the chance!

LOL..great review
ReplyDeleteTina. Tina, Tina, Tina! It's not really a fight when Chan is here snuggling me, now is it? Plus, Rodolfo went out to get us some cheesecake and Davey said he'd be over later...you know...after the mushroom *cough* fungus *cough* soup.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm kind of Team Blake anyway. Our personalities mesh better. I think this mostly comes from their Valentine outings and me wanting to go with either Blake or Matthias. And just for the record, Matthias has whips. And in my head he's more like 25, 26ish. Whips!

ReplyDeleteCheesecake?? HA, your just trying to tell people that, because he went out to buy you foot spray......!!!

I liked your review and maybe Aurora is smarter than we think playing damsel in distress or dummy in the basement?
ReplyDeleteThat is one seriously strange video. I love the song, but is that a zombie in there? And some head bashing? Seriously messed up. But probably fits well with the book!
