R.S.V.P. to the most riotous wedding of the year . . .
Lucy Jorik is the daughter of a former president of the United States. Meg Koranda is the offspring of legends.
One of them is about to marry Mr. Irresistible—Ted Beaudine—the favorite son of Wynette, Texas. The other is not happy about it and is determined to save her friend from a mess of heartache. But even though Meg knows that breaking up her best friend's wedding is the right thing to do, no one else seems to agree. Faster than Lucy can say "I don't," Meg becomes the most hated woman in town—a town she's stuck in with a dead car, an empty wallet, and a very angry bridegroom. Broke, stranded, and without her famous parents at her back, Meg is sure she can survive on her own wits. What's the worst that can happen? Lose her heart to the one and only Mr. Irresistible? Not likely. Not likely at all.
Thoughts
I think the synopsis really lacks what this book is all about. Its funny and kind of cliche cheese all mixed in together. While I really liked the story angle, I had a hard time connecting to the main characters Ted and Meg, I guess I like strong female characters, even flighty, airheads can come to a point and pull it together, however Meg seems to humiliate herself on purpose over and over again. Not that I didn't like anything about her, she was funny and in her own way kind of sweet- but to ever take her as a serious type- not happening. But hey, this book is for laughs and feel good raunch that says its ok if a hot guy detests you- you should sleep with him anyway. Toss out your dignity and get it on......because as he gets his occasional late night trysts and then hates you in the morning, this is fiction so in the end he will mend his ways, marry you and hold you up like the sparkling gem you are...........You Go Girl!!!! Hopefully for you he doesn't have herpes.....
This is for sure a mood-read. One that says Im in a mood to laugh but not take things too seriously, perfect for a beach read. If your not into a raunchy laugh I forewarn you... this novel will tick you off, I should have known based on the cover, I was in trouble. For that reason only, I give it merit in the humor department but would recommend this book with caution.

Rating
Recommended to adult readers and contains language and sexuality- with a few graphic sex scenes.

Trust No One!! Especially if they are robotic trained teens who spend countless of hours (and page time) playing war paint ball.
Good gravy on a soggy biscuit, try as I might Variant and me just didn't get along. Whether it was because of the almost to long paint ball scenes or the fact that this was primarily targeted to 8th grade boys, I just didn't like this one.
While I did see some well put together thoughts, Benson the supposed hero of Variant came off way to little boy whiny for me, I thought at almost 18, I would read a character a tad more mature, but hey this is YA- and defiantly can and will appeal to younger readers, just not for me or most adult readers.

Can be enjoyed by teens and the middle-grade reader (think 13 &up) Mild violence, mind control, mild (slangish) language.

Well......theres nothing more bittersweet then coming to the end of a great series. Yes I know Ms. Mead is carrying on with Bloodlines and what not, but Rose's story and central conflicts have come to an end....**tears**
Ok so well, the gang busted Rose out of jail and shes on the run with Hot D in order to find proof to clear her name and be able to assume her guardian position. With the help of Lissa and Adrian doing wonders back home, Rose will have to work fast before the crowing of the next Queen.
Overall I really loved this series, I enjoyed the way it ended and I see a lot a potential for spin-off story's. I guess the only thing that bothered me was the use of Adrian's character, while there might be love on the horizon, I think he was primarily created to be the dish rag that Rose used. Enough said.

Last Sacrifice is recommend to adult readers and teens over 16. This book is R rated- that's really the only way to say it- lots of kissing, sex, naked things..f-words, not wholesome for a younger crowd.

LOL! Naked things? I still can't believe I haven't read VA yet. I need to make it a must.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for you thoughts on Call Me Irresistible. I'd seen that book around and had been wondering about it. But...humiliate herself on purpose? That kind of reminds me of that movie, Bridesmaids. Yeah... wasn't really working for me on film, so I doubt it will in a book.
Funny cliche cheese?
ReplyDeleteGood gravy on a soggy biscuit?
I love these analogies.
Brilliant!
And cute ;)
I have started/put down/cont/put down Call me Irresistible several time. I agree it is a mood read--so far light and fun but not something I feel compelled to pick up at times :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Last Sacrifice!
"Hopefully for you he doesn't have herpes....." ROFL! Yeah, this book is so *not* for me. Meg would irritate me to no end, especially with throwing your dignity out the door for pleasure that I'm pretty sure lasts than 5 min. I don't care how hot the guy is, he's still a douche.
ReplyDeleteI still need to read the VA Series. I thought Varient was more stepford LOL but okay. Yeah totally boy book.
ReplyDelete"Toss out your dignity and get it on......because as he gets his occasional late night trysts out and then hates you the next day, this is fiction so in the end he will mend his ways, marry you and hold you up like the sparkling gem you are...........You Go Girl!!!! ReplyDeleteSeriously Tina. I about choked on my drink when I read that. As it was, I did a dying fish routine and attempted to suck in air through my nose while not spitting out my water. You are hilarious and I adore you:)
Is that a pumpkin or an orange in the first graphic? or is it something else? I've been staring at it and I can't figure it out, lol.
ReplyDelete"good gravy on a soggy biscuit"-I'm adding this to my everyday vocabulary.
Could I just say, you come up with the BEST nick names, EVA! Hot D! Seriously, Tina, I could not think of anything that I love more than that name. Because, if anyone ever called Dimitri, "Hot D" to his face, he'd shove his lovely silver stake through their heart. I think that's why it's so fitting. LOL! *giggles* The things I get a kick out of!
ReplyDeleteYour review for Call me Irresistible had me laughing out loud. Nothing like sleeping with someone who hates you to make things all the much better in your life. Hehehehe! Tina, you've made my day today.
