Friday, Dec. 2nd - Writing Reviews 101: What's your process for writing book reviews? Any tips or suggestions you would recommend to other bloggers?

First and most important because I read very fast and can let my reviews pile up, I always take some notes. At least some pivotal or emotional thoughts I had while reading that I can build on when I actually sit down to write out my review. My reviews are a process, plot, what I thought and would I recommend it?
There are many times when all the things I want to say are in my head but when I go to write it, I lose all those thoughts....so lately I've been using my voice recorder on my iPhone to capture those ideas so I don't forget them later. Its funny listening to myself but it really helps out.

Have a safe and fun weekend friends. Im baking Christmas cookies with the kiddos and getting some last minute shopping done. And Im totally still getting over the shocking end of The Walking Dead mid-season final.....I didn't see that last thing coming.

I would be lost without notes too.
ReplyDeleteHave fun baking cookies!
What flavors?
I don't take many notes, but sometimes I think of a really nice phrase to describe something and a voice recording is a great idea! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am sooo a note taker too! I need to get thoughts down...even if I'm only halfway through a book. I've never tried voice recording, I feel like I may think better through writing. I might be a bit scared to talk it all out loud. Though I do read my final draft out loud a lot of times...Helps me catch mistakes.
ReplyDeleteThe voice recorder is a good tip actually. *starts thinking* I really should be more proactive about taking notes!
ReplyDeleteThat's definitely happened to me! I've had a bunch of observations and thoughts on a book and then what ends up on the page is nothing even remotely similar to what I originally had in my head. Notes would be helpful, but I've never been much of a note taker. The voice recorder is a brilliant idea!
ReplyDeleteHahah! I clicked on the mic thinking I was going to hear your voice. I'm such a stalker.
ReplyDeleteYummmm! Cookies. Send me a dozen, will ya. ;)
That's why I love my Kindle! I can highlight with the reader itself and add in notes and stuff. Then, the search option rocks for finding the quotes I'm looking for. Everything else is in my head. When I read physical books, I try to keep post it notes to paste on pages that make me think something special. Mostly though, I just go off the moment. LOL! Sometimes, the kids don't allow for my note taking. :D I love the voice recorder idea, that would be so much faster and you can prolly take better notes.
ReplyDeleteAs for the cookies, I'll email you my mailing address. *wink wink*
I just started using my phone recorder too. I jot down notes while I'm reading but sometimes a thought will come to me days after I've read the book - while I'm grocery shopping lol
ReplyDeleteLately, I've been bad about letting my reviews pile up. I think I should try taking notes. I haven't really done that before, but I'm starting to see the necessity of it.
