Mini-Reviews {14} featuring Heaven is for Real-Kids and Giveaways!!!!

Mini-Reviews- In where I get out a few thoughts on a bundle of books I've read.

Timeless by Alexandra Monir

Bought-2/5- YA-Fantasy

Oh me...oh my...try as I might, this one just didn't fly....

Ok so my rhyming may never go down as timeless, but this book robbed me of some time that Ill never get back. Not that it was bad, it was just... Meh.

Alluring as time travel romance is for me, the instant love, make out in 2 seconds flat cliches, really turned this book sour in about three chapters. Lackluster characters, writing that felt to young and girly- call me crazy but even this helpless romantic couldn't see past the fluff. Perhaps it was the speed of lightening plot developments or just a too juvenile feel, Timeless in the end did not work for me.

Past Perfect by Leila Sales

Review Copy-4/5- Ya-Contemporary

Holy Adorable!! That's really all I can say about this book.

Chelsea, a very likable character introduces us to the world of summer vacation and working at a job she loves. Big problem though, shes trying to get over her X, Ezra...and guess who shows up the first day of work with her??

Past Perfect was seriously just a fun read. A few hours of shameless sweet, Im sure you wont get a lot of in depth emotion out this one, but its great for a clean-fun (sometimes sad) quirky story of girl gets over guy and has a kick-butt summer to boot.

GIVEAWAYS

Heaven is for Real for Kids by Colton Burpo
November 8, 2011 by Thomas Nelson
Review Copy- 3/5-Inspy-Children

Based on the best selling book Heaven is for Real, Colton Burpo shares his story to even younger readers about his account seeing Heaven. With easy to understand dialog and adorable illustrations, I enjoyed reading this cute story to my toddler. This is certainly a novel you can share with preschool age kids and today thanks to Thomas Nelson I have one brand new copy to share with one of my readers.

Review Copy-3/5- Inspy-Devotion

This was a super sweet and pretty devotional gift book. I found it simple and reassuring with timeless quotes and scripture. This is perfect for a teacher or friend that you would want to pass along a devotional type book to. Today I have one of these pretty little gems to pass along to one of my readers.

  3. Shoot! I had high hopes for Timeless because I love time travel stories, but if the characters are lackluster, that's a big problem for me. I think this one will stay at the bottom of the TBR pile for a while longer. Thanks Tina:)

  5. Oh man, I was looking forward to "Timeless" but now I think I'll put it on the back burner. I'm a bit tired of the insta-love and lackluster characters for now. Thanks for the heads up. (Not an entry)

I do not think I will be picking up Timeless. I do not like insta-love and I don't dig on the insta make out. Not my groove.

As for Past Perfect, I've wanted to read that one for awhile. I love the cover and sometimes I need a sweet read.
