Chatting with Authors- featuring Robert Morgan& a Giveaway

Today Im chatting with pastor and best selling author Robert Morgan, who recently wrote ~Angels~ a novel exploring the world of Angelical beings and the relationship we have with them. Dedicated to all my Inspy followers (and everyone who loves Angels) there is also a special giveaway today.

Hi Robert thanks for stopping by the blog today, I would love readers to know more about you. Can you tell us about yourself?

I’m the pastor of The Donelson Fellowship in Nashville, Tennessee, where I’ve served for almost 32 years. My wife, Katrina, is disabled, but she assists me in my pastoring and writing work. We have three daughters and eleven children. I’m the author of a number of Thomas Nelson books including Then Sings My Soul and The Red Sea Rules.

Eleven children!? That is inspiring by itself, I thought I was brave having three... so what inspired you to write Angels?

In my daily devotions, I read through the Bible looking up every reference to angels from Genesis to Revelation. I found 234 passages on the subject, and each verse was an interesting study in itself. I’m also an armchair student of Christian history and missionary biography, and I kept running into interesting “mysterious stranger” stories, which sounded like some of the angel stories in the Bible. I put together these observations and crafted them into a book that is both biblically-sound and anecdotal.

Did you have any hiccups or major challenges writing Angels?

No. It was one of the most enjoyable projects I’ve worked on. The only problem was the manuscript came in several thousand words too long and had to be slightly condensed.

Oh the dreaded edits...I hear that's the hardest part when publishing. Speaking of publishing, have any authors or books inspired your writing career?

When I was in college, Ruth Bell Graham advised me to read an old book for every new one I read. I’ve found the older books to be goldmines of insight. I like John Bunyan, F. W. Boreham, Brother Lawrence, Vance Havner, V. Raymond Edman, and the Puritan Thomas Watson.

What are you reading right now?

The sermons of Jonathan Edwards, a book of stories by Paul Harvey, and a James Patterson novel. I’ve just finished the biography of A. W. Tozer by James L. Snyder. I’m also working on a missionary biography written by friends of mine in Brazil.

Last great movie you saw?

We recently watched and enjoyed Miss Potter, the movie about the life of writer Beatrix Potter.

I loved that movie!! Well Robert thanks so much for chatting with me today, before you go can you share any future projects with us?

I’ve just finished Then Sings My Soul Book 3 and a small biography of Ruth Bell Graham. My next major project is a book about the Twenty-Third Psalm.

And there you have it readers, a swell guy who writes about Angels and inspires others!!

Uncover the mystery of angels and their roles in your life. Angels have been present since the beginning of time, yet we know so little truth about them. In his warm, storyteller style, best-selling author Robert Morgan presents a long-term effort of research behind the mystery of angels—in the teachings of the Bible, their role in the story of Christ, stories of how they impact Christian and missionary history, and personal accounts of their presence in our everyday lives. This is a revealing look at what angels do for us, opening our hearts and minds to their power and personalities as they carry out their purpose and God's overall plan for His kingdom.

  2. Wow, eleven children! I always think it would be fun to have such a big family, but right now it's just me, the husband and two dogs:) I can't even imagine trying to edit a manuscript, I'd be convinced every word was vital and wouldn't be able to cut anything!

Don't enter me, but this was a great interview:)
