Two hundred years from now, the great cities of the west coast of the United Americas are under water. Blood has become the most valuable commodity on the planet – especially the blood of aboriginal peoples, for it contains antigens that protect them from the plagues that ravage the rest of the world. Sixteen year old Cassandra Mecredi might be aboriginal by blood, but without a totem animal, she cannot make sense of her visions or walk the paths of the spirit world. When her family is forced to leave their reservation, they flee east to the Island: a mysterious and idyllic territory free from the depredations of industry and sickness and under the control of the Band, a group of guerrilla warriors. There, Cassandra will become the apprentice to a wise woman, fall in love, and find her destiny when the creatures of spirit claim her as their own. For the spirit world is angry... and they have chosen Cassandra to be their voice and instrument.

Im really looking forward to reading all these delicious titles and cant say enough about how gorgeous these book covers are becoming. I love the creepiness of Out of Breath, the simpleness of Escape Velocity and Across Eternity and the elegance of The Academie and Grand Illusions. Also do you notice a theme with birds for 2012 books? I've been seeing them everywhere.

First off...just downloaded Across Eternity myself. I think I saw it on Once Upon a Twilight (?) And thought it looked great.
ReplyDeleteSecond...Thanks for sharing the Bergren Book! Very excited after doing Waterfall ;)
Ooooo Shadows Cast by Stars sounds good! Seems like it has a lot of different elements mixed in and has the potential to be really unique. Adding it to the list, thanks Tina!
ReplyDeleteOooo lovely picks darling :)
ReplyDeleteWhy does the story of a teen going to boarding school in Paris and falling in love sound so familiar?
ReplyDelete*giggles*
I'm liking the sound of Shadows Cast because it sounds like a vampire story in a way! Everyone is out for blood!
I like the sound of Escape Velocity!!!
ReplyDeleteSo I'm a total sucker for boarding school books. No, seriously, I am. It's kind of sad. LOL! So, THE ACADEMIE looks like just my cup of tea. Also, incredibly excited for GRAND ILLUSIONS! How fabulous is that cover?! Besides, I know I like LTB's stuff! :D
ReplyDeleteShadows Cast by Stars sounds really interesting. And Yayy for Grand Illusions!!

ReplyDeleteGrand Illusions sounds amazing. Thank you so much for bringing this one to my attention.
ReplyDeleteI also really like the idea of Shelf Cravings... I feel bad asking you this but would you be opposed to the idea of making this a meme and having someone (*coughcoughmecoughcough*) use it once in a while? This would be with full credit and a very visible link back to your blog of course. :)
Some great picks here girl. I added a few to my TBR!
ReplyDelete@Nissa- Hmmm, Ive never thought about turning this into a meme, Ill have to think about that because I dont do this feature every week....
