Welcome to Mini-Reviews...a feature in where I get out a few thoughts on a bundle of books I have read. This week Im talking about books of a mature nature, or in other words books I read but probably really shouldn't have.....from the naughty to the naughtiest these books contain sexuality and adult content, recommended to 18 and up.

Now before you go judging me, first and foremost in my defense when I bought Rock Me I did not know I was buying an Erotica book....I mean Amazon was constantly suggesting it to me due to my like of some other books and the synopsis I read sounded really good.....bad boy with lots of tattoos meets and falls in love with an innocent classy gal, I love a bad boy meets their match type of story and while the cover looked a little spicy I figured it might be fun, imagine oblivious me thinking I was going to read about my next forbidden romance......
In a nutshell, Candace is a 20-something virgin good girl who basically lives her life pleasing her controlling parents. She's kinda like Rapunzel, trapped in her all expenses paid apartment while Brian is the scoundrel with a sensitive side coming to rescue her. When the two begin an intense, full out heat stroke relationship, his scary tattoos, music and appetizing sexuality are just the thing to break good sweet Candace down and help her gain some independence. However there are some issues, for instance the whole Brian being Candace's cousins x-boyfriend and the entire family is an uproar and then there is the little issue of Candace's virginity and Brian's the size of South Africa Prince Albert.....
Candace and Brian go on a Date~ Paraphrased by Me:
The first few chapters of this book were really good and outside of the graphic sex, I really liked the overall story line, I just wish more of the background and the actual story would have played front center while the sex scenes played in the background.....but I guess then it would have been called Contemporary Romance and not Erotica. I did wind up skimming and skipping over the sex scenes so I could find out if our naughty couple got their HEA........however I wouldn't recommend this to readers who take offense to these types of books.Brian: Lets go to your place, Ill bring a movie...Candace: *Swoon* I love scary movies, Im a happening chicBrian: Lets make some popcorn and snuggle real closeCandace: Wine, Cheese, Grapes? Me naked on a plate?Brian: Lets at least get through the movie before I offer you my rack of lamb.Candace *Swoon*Brian: Im going to kiss youCandace: Kiss meBrian: Im going to give you an education about 50 foot silver swords.Candace: Lets play some music......Michael Bolton??Brian: Baby I only make love to SlipknotCandace: Brian Im a virginBrian: A virgin??(!!)..{Que Alpha Male}Candace: **Swoon**Brian: Oh Candace I think Im falling in loveCandace: Oh Brian.......my Zeus........my master.....can you tie me up now?
Cover Talk: That cover looks nothing like the characters, first off Candace would never wear a leather bikini top....I mean shes pretty modest and Brian has dark hair, a goatee and eyebrow piercings, not that clean cut shaven suave on the cover.

Very predictable but yet still entertaining, I had a few hours of fun seeing how these ding-dongs could mess up an almost perfect relationship......despite its cheesy love scenes and complete silly ending, I did enjoy how Stephens brought closure to her characters and see a great future for the couple.

So this story is about this couple Riley and Gage, both of them really good with guns and former lovers. When Gage's bother is shot to bits all the evidence leads straight to his Riley and he blasts back into town and into Riley's life with a vengeance. Slowly but surely the estranged, sexually tension filled duo begin to track down who killed his brother and who framed Riley for the murder....
This was a super fast read, coming in at 115 pages it took me less than an hour to get through. While the original plot line seemed fun, I must admit whether it was because I had no background info or hit this in the middle of a series, I found myself a bit lost with the whole complicated romance. While this didn't in the end work for me, Im sure fans of Sensual Romance will enjoy.

Blahhaa! Your paraphrasing skills are da bomb! Looks like you are developing bolder reading tastes, T! I don't know what to do with this information. LOL
ReplyDeleteAnd since when does a whole family make it their business to discuss a woman's virginity. Isn't that stuff private anymore? And why hasn't Amazon offered me that same recommendation?
LOL- the first one was an accident Missie, you know I don't read Erotic stuff....but I have to admit it had a pretty good story line...and I might be tempted to read the BDB series......how funny that Amazon would leave you out of the fun!!!! They recommended Rock me for my like of Beautiful Disaster and Thoughtless......:)
